Canopy Reverie
Wedding Reception Decor . Salem, Tamil Nadu
The suspended wireframe canopies strung with light and blooms become the defining architecture of this stage — an evocative, memorable name for a design built around what happens overhead.
The Concept
Designed for Mohana Sibi and Swathi’s reception at Vijaya Sesha Mahal, Canopy Reverie sets a palette of blush pink, warm ochre, ivory and deep cobalt against palm-print backdrops, letting light and florals do most of the storytelling. The brief called for a stage that felt like a garden pavilion caught mid-glow — grand enough for a Tamil Nadu reception of this scale, yet warm enough to hold an intimate couple’s portrait. Every layer, from the ceiling down to the floral bed at the stage front, was built to work as one composition rather than a collection of separate pieces.
The Entrance
Guests arrive through a sculptural ochre archway bordered in fresh white and yellow blooms, with tall woven planters framing either side. A patterned runner in muted florals draws the eye down the aisle toward the illuminated stage, while a hand-illustrated welcome board introduces the couple by name and date — the first note of the design language guests will see repeated on stage.
The Stage
The stage builds in layers: three suspended canopies overhead, sweeping amber drapes, and a blush-and-cobalt backdrop framed by classical fluted columns. A pale grey sofa sits centred beneath five tall ivory finials and stacked gold-sphere pedestals, with floral arches climbing up toward the ceiling on either side. A long bed of rose, hydrangea and chrysanthemum runs the full width of the stage front, anchoring the composition at ground level.
The Centrepiece
The three white wireframe canopies suspended above the stage are the signature feature — their branching structure strung with crystal strands, warm chandeliers, and delicate white floral drops, softened at the base by fresh blooms climbing up the legs. Paired with the amber silk swags overhead, they turn the ceiling itself into the most photographed element of the celebration.
The Details
Up close, hand-tied floral columns mix purple statice, yellow chrysanthemum and trailing greens with real texture rather than uniform arrangement. Ivory ceramic finials and stacked gold orbs add sculptural weight, while strings of glass beads and petal-drop lights catch light at every angle — craft-level touches that reward a closer look.
