Haldi - Marigold Lotus
Haldi Ceremony Decor · Tamil Nadu
A celebration washed in marigold yellow, playful pink and fresh botanical greens, Marigold Lotus brings the spirit of a traditional Haldi ceremony into a bright, sculptural garden setting.
The Concept
Designed for Deena & Sanju’s Haldi ceremony, Marigold Lotus was conceived as a joyful garden celebration where colour, craft and florals become part of one continuous visual language. Shades of marigold yellow, turmeric gold, hot pink, lilac, pistachio and soft blue create a playful palette, while floral-filled niches, cane baskets and brass elements bring warmth and a distinctly Indian character to the setting.
The design moves deliberately between structure and softness — geometric panels frame abundant flowers, while flowing fabrics and hanging marigold strings soften the architecture. Every element, from the entrance to the centre stage, was designed to feel like part of the same celebratory landscape.
The Entrance
The entrance sets the tone with a sculptural pink-and-yellow gateway framed by delicate patterned screens, woven floral baskets and cascades of marigolds. A bold yellow drape falls effortlessly from one side, creating movement against the pale latticework, while the layered floral details guide guests naturally into the celebration beyond.
Rather than functioning as a simple passageway, the entrance becomes the first chapter of the décor — colourful, handcrafted and unmistakably festive.
The Stage
The stage is built around a sculptural interpretation of the lotus, with repeated pointed forms rising across a dense floral wall. Intricately cut golden panels create depth and shadow, while thousands of yellow and white blooms form a soft floral foundation beneath the structure.
The surrounding framework continues the colour story through pastel niches, hanging floral ornaments and abundant botanical arrangements. Above, alternating panels of pink, yellow and blue fabric turn the canopy into a vibrant ceiling, completing the garden-like setting without taking attention away from the couple’s seating area.
The Centrepiece
The lotus-inspired floral installation is the defining element of the stage. Crafted panels overlap in a rhythmic, upward movement, creating the visual impression of an unfolding lotus while allowing the floral wall behind to remain visible through intricate cutwork.
A dense composition of marigolds, chrysanthemums, roses and seasonal blooms fills the centre, transforming the structure into a living floral installation. The result is a stage that feels ceremonial without becoming overly formal — celebratory, tactile and designed for photographs from every angle.
The Details
Closer views reveal the craftsmanship behind the larger composition. Individual niches are framed with fine patterned cutwork and painted in contrasting pastel tones, each carrying a small floral arrangement or traditional hanging element. Brass diyas, carved golden accents and suspended floral strings add a distinctly Indian layer to the otherwise contemporary design language.
Even the smaller moments were given their own visual rhythm — from tightly arranged marigold baskets to delicate white floral hangings and the hand-finished textures of the woven décor.
